Half-Time/Full-Time Predictions: How to Read All Nine Outcomes

Learn what 1/1, X/1 and other HT/FT predictions mean. Read a real software screenshot, check probability totals and separate estimates from results.

Football markets · Reading HT/FT probabilities

Half-time/full-time predictions describe two match states together: the result at the interval and the result at full time. A selection such as X/1 means a draw at half-time followed by a home win at full time. It does not specify an exact score.

That distinction matters when reading football software. The most likely full-time result can be much more likely than any one route to that result. A home team might lead throughout, recover from a half-time draw, or come from behind.

The main takeaway: Read an HT/FT percentage as one combined scenario. Keep it separate from the full-time win probability, and check the complete table before trusting its numerical consistency.

What do the nine HT/FT outcomes mean?

In conventional home-first notation, 1 represents the home team, X a draw and 2 the away team. The first symbol describes half-time; the second describes full time.

Outcome At half-time At full time
1/1 Home leads Home wins
1/X Home leads Draw
1/2 Home leads Away wins
X/1 Draw Home wins
X/X Draw Draw
X/2 Draw Away wins
2/1 Away leads Home wins
2/X Away leads Draw
2/2 Away leads Away wins

A score of 0–0 at half-time and 2–1 at full time fits X/1. So does 1–1 at half-time and 3–1 at full time. Those are explanatory examples, not forecasts or reported results. Check the provider's settlement rules, particularly whether full time excludes extra time.

Reading the original Petrolul–Csikszereda screenshot

Original Just HT-FT Football Prediction screenshot for Petrolul versus Csikszereda M. Ciuc, showing 1/1 at 29.85% and X/1 at 23.64%

Original screenshot supplied by the owner, reproduced without alterations. Open the full-size screenshot to inspect the figures. It illustrates the software output; it does not establish a verified pre-match forecast or match result.

The workbook title reads Just HT-FT Football Prediction. Petrolul is the home team; the away-team name is clipped in the main heading, but the right-hand team list identifies Csikszereda M. Ciuc.

The largest displayed HT/FT estimate is 1/1 at 29.85%: Petrolul leading at half-time and winning at full time. Next is X/1 at 23.64%: a draw at half-time followed by a Petrolul win. The gap is 6.21 percentage points.

Even the leading estimate is below 30%. Being first in the list does not make an outcome certain, and the percentage is not an independently measured success rate.

A useful consistency check: add the outcomes

1/1 1/X 1/2 X/1 X/X X/2 2/1 2/X 2/2
29.85% 10.38% 7.35% 23.64% 8.22% 5.82% 9.03% 3.14% 2.22%

The nine entries total 99.65%, leaving a 0.35-percentage-point gap. Nine exhaustive, mutually exclusive outcomes for the same match period should total 100%. Ordinary rounding to two decimal places cannot explain this gap by itself.

The separate full-time panel shows 62.52% home, 21.75% draw and 15.39% away, totalling 99.66%. The three joint outcomes starting with a half-time home lead total 47.58%, whereas the standalone half-time home estimate is 47.74%. These differences need clarification; this screenshot alone does not reveal their cause. We have preserved the original figures rather than silently adjusting them.

Why a full-time home win has a different probability

Three HT/FT routes end with a home win: 1/1, X/1 and 2/1. Here, 29.85% + 23.64% + 9.03% = 62.52%, matching the full-time home figure.

A home-win estimate includes several possible half-time states, so it can be higher than any individual HT/FT estimate. This relationship does not resolve the incomplete overall total.

Do not multiply the half-time and full-time probabilities unless the model explicitly justifies independence. The interval state and eventual result are related events.

The workbook's “Last Modified: 26 August” label is not proof of when this particular forecast was generated. No fixture date, confirmed result or independently verified forecast timestamp is established by the supplied image.

A practical way to review your own output

  1. Confirm the fixture, home/away order and market definitions.
  2. Save the original screen and its actual generation time before kick-off if you intend to evaluate an advance forecast.
  3. Check that exhaustive outcome totals and related panels agree.
  4. Record the selection rule before seeing the result—for example, whether you evaluate only the highest-ranked scenario.
  5. Review every eligible match, including unsuccessful calls and unresolved data problems.

The image here does not supply a verified fixture date or generation time. No result comparison or accuracy calculation is justified from it alone.

Choosing a tool for this market

The Just HT-FT Football Predictions product page lists half-time/full-time result and correct-score features alongside half-time and full-time goals insight. Check its current requirements and demonstrations to decide whether those functions match what you want to analyse.

The store's paid software is distinct from the free website predictions. The website's methodology and public track record must not be presented as performance evidence for a separate paid workbook.

Common questions

Does X/1 mean an exact score?

No. It means a draw at half-time and a home win at full time. Many exact-score combinations satisfy it.

Is the first-ranked HT/FT outcome a guaranteed prediction?

No. It is the highest displayed estimate within that table. The rest of the possible outcomes collectively may be much more likely.

Does one matching screenshot prove accuracy?

No. Meaningful evaluation needs a complete, consistently recorded set of forecasts and outcomes, with timing, market definitions and calculation methods disclosed.
